Why the file never leaves the browser

Merch Kit draws every crop, title, and dimension panel on your own machine. Here is what that means, and the one habit it asks of you.

Most image tools start with an upload. You hand over the photo, a server does the work, and you download the result. Merch Kit does not work that way. When you open a marketplace kit and drop in a product photo, the picture is read by your browser and stays there.

The crop, the white padding, the title text, and the dimension panel are all drawn on a canvas inside the page. When you export, the files are written straight from that canvas to your downloads folder. Nothing is sent to Vidda Studio, and nothing is stored on our side.

Why we built it this way

Product photos are often unreleased. A new colorway, a prototype, a supplier sample shot before the listing goes live. Sellers are careful about where those files go, and rightly so. The simplest promise we could make was that the photo never leaves your computer at all.

It also keeps the tool fast. There is no upload to wait for and no queue on a server. Changing the crop or moving the title redraws the image immediately, because the work is happening a few centimeters from your screen.

What it asks of you

Because nothing is stored, there is nothing for us to restore. If you close the tab before exporting, the composition is gone and you will need to drop the photo in again. The habit is simple:

  • Finish one marketplace at a time.
  • Export the set before you close the tab or switch devices.
  • Keep your original photo where you can find it. Merch Kit never keeps a copy.

What we do keep

Your account and your purchase. When you unlock a marketplace, we record that the unlock exists and when it ends, so clean exports work for the full period. That record contains no image data.

The photo is yours from the moment you drop it in to the moment it lands in your downloads folder. We never hold it in between.
